Solar Heating

Solar heating can be used for to create hot water for residential and pool use, as well as for heating the home. It can save a homeowner a significant percentage on their monthly utility bills and is a clean source of energy. Many homes today are being fitted with photovoltaic technology.

One of the primary uses for solar heating is for creating hot water. These systems generally use some kind of solar collector in conjunction with a series of water filled tubes. As the water passes through the collector, the energy from sunlight heats the water which is then transferred to a reservoir for use.

Solar heating techniques have been used for years in warmer climates. However, if you live in a cooler climate, the use of a back-up heating element might be required. For most situations, a small electric water heater is all that is required as the back-up.
